The Cortes Island Business and Tourism Association (CIBATA) will be hosting their monthly Learning Lunch  at the Cortes Natural Food Co-op Café  – Tuesday May 29th from noon to 1:30 pm.  Learning Lunches are monthly presentations and lively conversations with invited guests discussing a full-range of topics of interest to Cortes residents; also a great opportunity to meet and network with Cortes locals – individuals, businesses and community organizations.

The featured guest for May will be John Kimantas with the BC Marine Trails Network Association.  John will give an overview of the Marine Trails Network Association and specifically the Discovery Island Marine Trail proposal – an initiative designed to establish and preserve a marine network of launch points and campsites throughout the Discovery Islands supported by First Nations, Government and community stakeholders, in order to ensure continued coastal access by paddle-craft  and other small boat users.

During the lunch we will also be profiling local Cortes businesses and non-profit organizations doing great work on island.  Local businesses profiled this month will be Hollyhock and the Gorge Harbour Marina updating us on their summer operations and special events.

A delicious Co-op Café meal, dessert & coffee/Tea will be provided during the lunch for only $15.00.   If you are interested in attending, please call the Co-op Café and RSVP before Tuesday May 29th at 250-935-6505.
