How long have you been working at the Co-op?
I started working at the Cafe this May and the Store soon after. I had applied back in February because I was coming to Cortes and had worked in organic/health foods and cafes for years. At least I have not had my old nightmares about boxes of Barbara’s Cheese Puffs falling on top of me-yet.
What are your roles at the co-op?
Barista and the Till doing cash, serving customers, also stocking, searching for things, generally being super busy, cleaning and cursing wonky cash outs. Sometimes I come in to buy something and secretly clean up or stock or put away dishes etc and organize the cooler if it looks like it has been rampaged.
What do you like most about working at the Co-op?
The energy, the people, it’s a lovely building and it’s fun!
What are your other interests or hobbies or work?
Being outside in nature as much as possible. The ocean. Cycling has been a huge part of my life but not so much on Cortes. I have loved swimming in Hague Lake all summer. Permaculture, gardening, I miss my gardens. I went to art school and have a wide ranging background in the arts but I would rather just day dream.
What’s your favourite product at the Co-op?
Croissants or galettes.
