Canada’s National Organic Week runs from September 9th to the 15th and is the largest annual celebration of organic food, farming and products across the country. Organized by the Canadian Health Food Association (CHFA), Canadian Organic Growers (COG) and the Canada Organic Trade Association (COTA), events across the country showcase the growing organic sector in Canada. We have much to celebrate this year. Organic farming is a rare success story for Canadian agriculture with lots of new farmers, fair prices and growing markets in Canada and abroad. Organic foods are the most regulated in Canada, offering Canadians a healthy source of food that isn’t just good for our health, but also good for the health of our environment. Finally, organic farmers work with nature to produce food that doesn’t degrade soil quality, ensuring future generations will have access to our rich farmland. Look for the Canada Organic symbol throughout the Co-op for certified organic products.
