It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the sudden death of our beloved Charles Crossland. We were blessed to work side by side with Charles at the Co-op for almost two years, and the hole that he leaves in our lives is very painful. He touched so many of us on the island with his sweetness, hilarious sense of humour, and acts of kindness. It will be a challenging time ahead as we face this loss. There will be numerous opportunities to gather to be with one another and send Charles along on his journey. Please check the tideline for more information about his upcoming Cortes memorial. We’d love to hear about any special words or moments you shared with this amazing man.

Farewell
By Anne Bronte
Farewell to Thee! But not farewell
To all my fondest thoughts of Thee;
Within my heart they still shall dwell
And they shall cheer and comfort me.
Life seems more sweet that Thou didst live
And men more true Thou wert one;
Nothing is lost that Thou didst give,
Nothing destroyed that Thou hast done.
Peace My Heart
By Rabindranath Tagore
Peace, my heart, let the time for the parting be sweet.
Let it not be a death but completeness.
Let love melt into memory and pain into songs.
Let the flight through the sky end in the folding of the wings over the nest.
Let the last touch of your hands be gentle like the flower of the night.
Stand still, O Beautiful End, for a moment, and say your last words in silence.
I bow to you and hold up my lamp to light your way.
